Modern golf clubs are steel shafted for irons and graphite shafted for woods, and are available in various flexes to suit all skill levels, depending on the club head speed that can be generated by the player. For male players with the fastest swing speeds, usually low handicap amateurs and professionals, the ideal club shafts would be stiff flex ( S-flex) or even extra stiff (X-flex).
The majority of male amateur players will have a slower swing speed and be suited to regular flex ( R-flex) golf clubs. Womens golf clubs are usually graphite shafted, for both irons as well as woods, the they will provide more flex and clubhead speed for the lady players’ slower swing.
All of the major golf club manufacturers produce equipment for both men and women. In most cases, new golf club models that are release for male golfers are also available for women. This enables all players, regardless of gender, to get the benefits of modern technological benefits that are appearing in golf equipment.
